I hope you have all been enjoying these festive days!
With the New Year upon us it’s time to think about all the wonderful experiences of 2012 and to wish for only great things in 2013.
This past weekend this was a great experience for me…raw sushi!
This past Friday night My Man and I went on a date night. We decided to try raw sushi for the first time. I was kind of scared, but now I think I am hooked! The sushi was delicious and just melted in your mouth! After that great experience we decided to go to a wine bar. That too was a fun and different experience. After that we went to see Lés Miserables. I was entranced by this movie. the music, the story…the entire movie was amazing! Everyone should see it!
This past year the most viewed post on my blog was “Mangonadas”. This delicious and fresh dessert is the bomb! You can check it out here https://micasayourcasa.wordpress.com/2012/07/09/mangonadas/
I hope that 2013 brings good health, happiness and love and of course craftiness for all! I also hope that it brings great, new experiences! There is so much to see and do in this life. Sometimes we have the resources for new experiences sometimes we don’t, so let’s take advantage of the times we can experience wonderful new things!
Feliz Año Nuevo!
I can’t believe I am the first one up today! Yay! I get to enjoy some quiet coffee time! Maybe I will even get something accomplished…maybe not! The weather here has been wonderful for this time of year. It has pretty much been in the 30’s and today there is a tiny bit of snow on the ground. I have only worn my winter coat once so far and I am so ok with that.
I adore this scrapbook page I am going to show you.
This layout is colorful, simple and dare I say frugal? I pretty much used scrap paper on this layout. I used my Cricut to cut out the letters and parentheses. How simple is that? These pictures are of my daughter for her trunk party before she went away to school. She has decided to come back home. She was absolutely homesick and was truly unhappy. I have come to terms with it and she is now home happy and healthy! She will be going to community college and who knows maybe she will decide to go to another college or university? Time will tell!
Enjoy your weekend!

Did you go after Christmas shopping? I went but I have so much stuff that I don’t really buy Christmas themed items. I try to stock up on things that I can use for other holidays. I bought several bags of candy, different colored things I can use for wrapping gifts or as decorations. Today will be a good productive day! At least I hope so. Even though I am on vacation I set my alarm so I can get up at 8:00 am. It hasn’t worked! I turn it off and go right back to sleep. I have been a bit productive but not as much as I would like. Everyone tells me not to stress about cleaning and that I should just relax. It’s kind of hard, but I am trying to do a bit of relaxing along with a bit of work.
So on to something fun…crafts!
I have the second picture frame project for you…I did not have absolutely anything to do with this one…My Man did it all!
Sorry the picture is so bad. I took after cleaning a mountain of stuff and organizing my crafting area a bit. I think I was a bit blind!
My Man just spray painted the frame and attached a piece of sheet metal to fit to the back of the frame and there you have it. All I did was glue the magnets to the back of some of my make-up. I have more make-up to add to it still. I was going to add fabric over the sheet metal but I decided to leave it alone in case I wanted to place the frame in another room. It could be used for hanging just about anything with magnets.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was definitely full of family and food! Now I have two weeks off to get a bit organized and get some projects done.
A couple of months ago one of my cousins asked if I wanted some picture frames that she was going to get rid of. Of course I said yes! I made two different projects with these frames. This is the first one.
I had seen frames like this on Pinterest and of course they were on my to do list. Actually, I put them on my husbands to do list! My Man painted the frame then attached the chicken wire to the back of the frame with heavy-duty staples. I made some glittered clothes pins and BAM! Another great project complete! I actually gave this to a good friend of mine and I really hope she liked it! You can hang pictures, cards, memorabilia or anything you want on it. You can place it on top of the dresser or add a picture hanger to the back and hang it on the wall.
Another great project completed by my Man and I. After twenty-five years I guess we are pretty good together!
If you have any old frames don’t throw them out! Just spray paint them and up cycle them! Tomorrow I will show you the project with the other frame…stay tuned!
It’s been an extremely busy last couple of days! I was lucky enough that my sister flew in from Florida for a couple of days, we’ve hung out with family and friends, we’ve eaten more than we should…we are truly blessed! We had such a good time hanging out together. That is what the holidays is all about…family, friends, love and good health! I guess we don’t realize that until we are older. It’s not about the gifts. I’ve been rallying for everyone in our family to make hand-made gifts…but it’s not working!
I’s also like to take a moment to “Thank You” all that follow me. Though I have a long way to go with blogging it comes from my heart. Thank you for taking the time to check out what I have cooked, crafted or just to visit.
So from my family…to yours…Merry Christmas. May each and every one of you be blessed!
I am typing this on Friday night so that I can sleep in Saturday morning. I have a Girls Night Out tonight (Friday)with my sister and best friends. We are going out to have a few drinks and maybe do some crazy dance moves!
This pretty card matches the tag that I posted the other day.
This card is super simple but makes I hope quite an impact.
Have a great weekend!

TGIF! Today is Friday and the last day of work before going on winter break! I am too excited! I have been looking forward to this just so that I can sleep! We were supposed to get a snow storm yesterday but we really didn’t. We did get a lot of rain and some added winds in the evening, but all in all not bad!
This is the second year I have made a special tag to use on some of my gifts. I think these came out really nice. They are definitely feminine!
Tags are always nice projects to use scrap paper on so make sure to save your scrap paper!
