It’s National Scrapbook Day! I feel bad that I haven’t done Scrapbook Saturday in quite a while. I feel like I’ve kind of lost my umph for scrapbooking. I am sure I will get my mojo back eventually. Scrapbooking isn’t always easy. It’s time consuming, a bit expensive and requires quite a bit of ideas and creativity but I do enjoy it!
I feel almost like a historian when I scrapbook. I love taking pictures and telling the story of an event, person or place. It’s almost magical when you look back on those pictures.
My grandmother passed away in December. I scrapbooked this picture of our hands together back in September of 2012. I absolutely love this picture.
That particular day I was hanging out with my Abuelita. I was putting lotion on her hands and she said that our hands were very different. I asked her why they were different and she responded that hers were old and mine were young. If she only knew that I was kind of old too and that my hands look nothing like they did when I was fifteen. I love this picture more than I can say. I think I might have a canvas made of this picture to remind me of how lucky I was to have her.
Go scrapbook! Get your craft on and enjoy!
Supplies: Stampin’ Up!, Stickles, misc. stickers
Have any great plans? I am going to have a fairly quiet weekend here. Cleaning house and doing laundry.
Can you believe I am still trying to catch up on scrapbooking with pictures from 2012 ? Here is a layout with our pictures from Lights at the Zoo at Brookfield Zoo.
Going to the zoo always involves whichever family members want to come including my brothers and their families and my cousin and her family. Last year the majority of us went. The surprising thing is that it was 70 degrees and balmy! It is usually maybe about 30 degrees or below in December when we go to the Lights! It felt so different…so un-winterlike. It was just weird. Either way we had a great time!
I am super excited to try a new scrapbooking style/tool. I purchased Project Life. It seems like it will be an easier and faster way of scrapbooking. I will still be adding lots of embellishments ( I have so much that I have to add some!) to make the pages really pop. It’s been for sale for a while on places like HSN or QVC. They are just now starting to sell Project Life at Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Archivers.
I was so excited at the store when I found Project Life that I had to take a picture! I hope to be starting it soon. I would like to start with my 2013 pictures so wish me luck! For more information on Project Life visit this spot http://www.beckyhiggins.com/
Have a fabulous weekend!

I hope everyone has some wonderful plans for their weekends. Let me tell you about this crazy weather. Yesterday it was freezing! It felt like January. It was cold and blustery. There was rain, then a bit of snow and tiny, tiny hail. What is going on?
Since you never know what is going to happen it is wonderful to enjoy and appreciate those great days that are given to us. In this scrapbook layout I added two pictures that show great days!
The picture on the top is my husband’s profile and my daughter next to him. It was the day we went to the Bristol Renaissance Faire. We had a good day and I love the way this picture came out. The picture below it was on a girls night out around Christmas last year. My sister was in from Florida and we always get together with my best friends when she comes home. When I look at these pictures I am reminded of the great things I have in my life.
I think this is my most favorite scrapbook page ever. The textured velvet like paper is to die for!The chipboard and paper flowers along with the doilies are the perfect combination. And of course everything is better with bling!
Have a great weekend. Make some great memories!
Supplies: Stampin’ Up!, Jolees, Echo Park, misc. paper flowers, Wilton, misc. scrapbook paper
Last night we attended a Charity Spaghetti Dinner that my son planned for the Leyden Laurel Masonic Temple. This was the first event he has planned. I am so very proud of him. H has grown to be a charitable, upstanding wonderful young man! I can’t wait to see what event will be next!
This school year is almost over and I just scrapbooked the first day of school for the 2012-2013 school year. Julieta started Sixth grade at out local middle school and I miss having my little girl. My sweet girl is a young lady! She is already way taller than me!
Too bad they have to grow up. When my children were little I couldn’t wait for them to grow up. Now I wish they were little. There is nothing like them being little and needing us, cuddling with us, wanting to always be with us! I miss that! But I guess them growing up also has its benefits like going to the bathroom without them knocking on the door constantly, being able to sleep all night, going out without lugging the entire house with us. That’s life…give and take!
Have a great weekend!
I am kind of sad because vacation is almost over. So now I just need to enjoy the last few days I have left. Yesterday Eddie, Julieta, me and my parents went to Lake Geneva, WI to spend the day. We had never been there and we picked the perfect day. The weather was awesome. We checked out the frozen lake and shops. Lunch consisted of fried shrimp. Of course I enjoyed a bloody Mary! It was a cute town with some nice shops. My favorite shop was called A Little Funky. They had some great vintage furniture and other wonderful items. Julieta even made a friend there! It was the perfect day.
When we came home we rested for about 10 minutes then ran off to do groceries. This weekend will be a little catch up then my parents, brothers and their families will hang out for Easter.
I finally scrapbooked some of my Christmas pictures from 2011! My husband and I had gone downtown one day that winter and had a great day shopping, wandering around and having lunch.
This layout came together really quickly. I loved using washi tape on this page. Can you see where it is?
Have a wonderful Easter!

So you know that saying “you can pick your friends but you can’t pick your family”? It’s so true! I pretty much love all my family! I’ve been pretty lucky. My husband and kids are great! My parents and siblings are pretty darn good. My extended family is pretty good, too! I have lucked out! That doesn’t mean that sometimes we don’t fight or disagree on things but that is what family is all about. You fight and then figure out how to compromise or fix it and move on…Familia!
This is some of my familia. My brother, son, grandmother and two daughters. I think I will keep them all!
Have a wonderful weekend. Hope you get so spend some time with your family!

Another quiet weekend to look forward to here….Blah! I am excited to do Secret Cupid at work next week. I hope the person that I need to leave little gifts for likes them! I love doing gifty kind of games!
Last Saturday I went in to have some blood work done figuring everything would come back fine…it didn’t! I received a call from a nurse from my Dr. office Tuesday night letting me know that my triglycerides are high and that I am pre-diabetic! UGH! When it rains it pours, bad feet and now this. I have been a little out of it these last few days trying to figure out how to change these things. I am still down the 30 pounds from four years ago but apparently still need to lose more weight. I don’t know if I should follow a low-fat, diabetic diet or what. I need to get together with my Doc and figure all this out. I want to be here with my kids any watch them grow up. I want to be healthy for myself and for them. I guess I have a lot of work to do! Thanks for listening to me…
Enough bad news! Let’s get crafty!
I absolutely loved dressing up this past Halloween and I finally scrapbooked my Halloween pictures!
I got some good pictures of the kids on Halloween day, at Boo at the Zoo! and of myself and my cousin for the Halloween party we went to. I think Boy George and Robert Smith of The Cure look pretty good! Totally 80’s!
This double page layout turned out pretty bus but still pretty good. I used lots of patterned paper. I made the cute tag with the spider last year and figured I might as well use it.
Have a great weekend!
